As the foundation of Laker Athletics, two student-athletes were chosen for their prowess in the pool and on the course.
Marcela Scaramuzza (6th grade, Swimming) Marcela has earned this honor for her stellar swimming performance. She won the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke last Thursday against Lake Mary Prep and Master’s Academy. In addition, her 100 breaststroke time broke the school record by a second!
Myles Davis (6th grade, Cross-Country & Football) Competing in two Fall Sports, Myles has earned this recognition for his stamina on the cross-country course. As a 6th grader, he ran in the JV division at the West Orange Invitational last Saturday and recorded a personal best of 22:13.20 in the 5K race.
The Girls Varsity team won the District Tournament at MetroWest on Tuesday shooting +2 290 as a team. The team was led by Wenyan Ma shooting -1 71, which was also 3rd place overall individual. Gabby Coello and Meiyi Yan shot even par 72 for 4th and 5th place individual honors. Cosette Anderson had 75 and Megan Ikeda shot 76. It was a great effort from all of the Lakers. The young women are looking ahead to the Regional Tournament next week at North Shore Golf Club.
The Boys Varsity team dominated the District Tournament earlier this week with a -6 282. The Lakers had the top 3 places individually. Harry Xue made 8 birdies in route to shooting 67 and taking medalist honors. Eric Berggren shot -3 69 to be second place overall, individual. UF commit, Manolo Girona carded -2 70 to be 3rd place overall. Finally, Chase Nowicki had 76, and Sully Zagerman had 79. The Lakers are looking strong going into the Regional Tournament next week at Tuscawilla Country Club.
